ABOUT DR ALI

Education

Dr Faisal Ali is a highly accomplished and experienced Consultant Dermatologist, Mohs Micrographic and Laser Surgeon. 

 

He graduated from Trinity College, University of Cambridge, with a Double First in pre-clinical medicine before completing clinical studies at Christ Church, University of Oxford. After general medical training in several of London’s top teaching hospitals, he undertook dermatology training in Manchester.

Advanced global training

Dr Ali then completed a highly competitive advanced dermatological surgery fellowship (including Mohs micrographic surgery and laser dermatology) in the world-renowned St Johns Institute of Dermatology based in Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, London, where he continues to work as a Mohs surgeon. He was subsequently awarded the British Cosmetic Dermatology fellowship to study skin pigmentation disorders in the National Skin  Centre, Singapore. 

Research

Dr Ali has extensive research training with a PhD from the University of Cambridge and over 120 academic publications and 50 presentations at national/international conferences. This includes articles in Nature, Science, BMJ, The Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine, as well as the major dermatology journals. He has been awarded multiple prizes and scholarships throughout his career and was delighted to be awarded the 'BMJ Dermatology Team of 2018'. 

Clinical Expertise

He sees all aspects of general (including acne, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema), surgical and cosmetic dermatology in Macclesfield, Wilmslow, Manchester and London. His specialist interests include advanced skin surgery (including Mohs micrographic surgery), skin cancer, acne, rosacea, hyperhidrosis, laser surgery and disorders of pigmentation. He is regularly asked to lecture nationally and internationally to other dermatologists.
