Education

Professor Ali graduated from Trinity College, University of Cambridge, with a Double First in pre-clinical medicine before completing clinical studies at Christ Church, University of Oxford. After general medical training in several of London’s top teaching hospitals, he undertook dermatology training in Manchester. He is one of a handful of dermatology consultants in the UK to have been awarded Membership then Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP, FRCP) and Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS).

Global Training

Professor Ali then completed a highly competitive advanced dermatological surgery fellowship (including Mohs micrographic surgery and laser dermatology) in the world-renowned St Johns Institute of Dermatology based in Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, London, where he continues to work as a Mohs and laser surgeon. He was subsequently awarded the British Cosmetic Dermatology fellowship for advanced training in cosmetic dermatology and pigmentary disorders in the National Skin Centre, Singapore.

Research

Professor Ali has extensive research training with a PhD from the University of Cambridge and over 190 academic publications and 90 presentations at national/international conferences. This includes articles in Nature, Science, BMJ, The Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine, as well as the major dermatology journals. He has been awarded multiple prizes and scholarships throughout his career, including the Wycombe Prize for Dermatology, IWGC Certificate of Excellence (multiple times) and led the winning BMJ Dermatology Team of the Year.
